Hi, I am Jessica.
I'm a Halifax, Nova Scotia based wedding and lifestyle photographer. It is my joy and passion to capture beautiful pictures of you and your loved ones on your most special days and all the days in between!
A Little About Me:
First and foremost is my love for Jesus Christ! After that, I am a wife to my hard working, handsome man and a momma to four amazing and hilarious children. My husband and I are east-coasters and have recently moved back from the prairies where we lived for five years.
A typical day at the Barkhouse abode would involve a slow morning gathered around the kitchen table with all of our homeschool work or snuggled up on the couch reading together, me with a very large cup of good coffee. In the afternoons we are usually working on house projects- painting, trim work, furniture flips, grouting tile. I love a good DIY project. We are just finishing our third “fixer upper” and are in the blueprint stage of building our forever home! In the evenings, after we tuck in the kiddos, my husband and I are usually reading together, watching a show or cuddled up on the coach working on our own laptops; me editing, him doing spreadsheets (yawn!).
We absolutely love spending as much time as possible with our children and golden retriever, Charlie, by the ocean breathing in the fresh Atlantic air and having the sand between our toes. Fun fact: that is one of my favorite locations for photo shoots - whether it is playing with your family in the sand or a romantic sunset engagement session.
I bought my first “fancy” camera twelve years ago, shortly after our first daughter was born, so I could document her life (the old iphone wasn’t cutting it), but I quickly fell in love with all things photography. It was not long before I was shooting friends' maternity, newborn, graduations, family, church and community events, stylized shoots, engagement and, eventually, weddings. I've had to put my photography work on hold a few times because of my husband's time overseas, but finally that season has come to an end as he retired from 21 years in the military this past year. I am so looking forward to many more opportunities to be behind my camera and capturing timeless photos that you can savor for years to come.

Where are you based out of?
I'm based just south of Halifax, Nova Scotia, in the little community of Williamswood, just a few minutes drive from Crystal Crescent Beach (one of my favorite locations for a sunset photoshoot!)
Do you travel and what is the added cost?
I love to travel to all corners of this beautiful province (and beyond). My charge for travel is $0.50 km outside of my 40km range. Also, depending on which package you choose, I may require overnight accommodations.
Second photographer for wedding?
Because of that fact that I can only be at one place at one time, it is inevitable that I will miss moments, unfortunately. But, if you would like to hire my second photographer, chances are, between the both of us, not much will be missed! It would be an extra $400 to have her along for the ceremony and portrait session. You won't regret it!
When will we get our photos?
You will receive an online gallery link with all your high resolution edited digital photos ready to download, share or print within maximum of 6 weeks (sometimes less depending on the season I photograph your story). You can download all the photos from the gallery, share them, choose your favorites, and also order prints!
What about extended family shoots?
Yes! The more the merrier! It will be an extra $100 for each additional family in an extended family lifestyle session and/or $50 for one set of grandparents. Additional time would be needed. That way each family will get time separately and with the whole gang!
We want to book you! What's next?
How exciting! Once you contact me through this website we will have a quick chat and then I will send over the contract for you to sign. A 50% retainer will be due at booking. Then another questionnaire will be send to you so that I can have as much details as possible to make sure your wedding day or lifestyle session runs as smooth as possible! The remainder of the payment is due a week before your date. I will be here for you along the way to answer any questions you may have!
